What are STD’s?
Sexually Transmitted Diseases  (STD’s) is a broad term that refers to more than 50 different diseases, infections, and syndromes, which may be transmitted through the exchange of bodily fluids such as semen, and blood.  Also anytime you have sex you or your partner are at risk for transmitting an STD to each other.
Common STD’s included Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Herpes, Hepatitis, Trichomoniasis, and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and Genital Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

Facts about STD’s

•    The CDC (Center for Disease Control) estimates that a person with an untreated STD has 2-5 times a greater chance of           contracting HIV than a person without an STD.
•    Having oral sex performed on you or performing it on your partner, instead of intercourse does not protect you from
STD’s. STD’s can all be transmitted through oral sex.
•    Up to half of all men who are infected with an STD (like Chlamydia or gonorrhea) show no symptoms. That means
damage, sometimes permanent, is being done to their bodies and they don’t even know it, and they can infect others
     with out knowing.

Signs and Symptoms of an STD
Many STD’s have no clear signs at all, others have symptoms that appear and then disappear while the infection remains, and with some STD’s it may take months for any obvious indications of infection to appear.

Some signs that you may have an infection include:

•    Any unusual discharge from the penis.
•    Rashes, sores, blisters, itchiness, bumps or pain in the genital area.
•    Pain or burning while urinating.
•    Pain during sex.
